Art of Reading Stage 2 continues to build on the foundation laid in Stage 1, taking your child from early segmented decoding into smooth, fluent reading of one-syllable words by the end of Stage 2.
Your child will begin Stage 2 with 20 dedicated days of working on fluency of CVC words and cementing the skills your child has learned in Stage 1 before launching into more complex phonics concepts.
From there, the whole stage works toward mastering the majority of digraphs and diphthongs within one-syllable words, equipping your child with the tools to decode a broad range of words.
Each lesson is short and focused, designed to take only 10–15 minutes per day.
Lessons introduce one concept at a time, then reinforce it through fun activities and tightly controlled decodable readers. Each activity page and reader allows your child to apply what they've just learned, while also reviewing previously taught material. The readers include comprehension questions to support understanding.
By the end of Stage 2, your child will be ready to move into syllable division instruction and advanced phonics concepts in Stage 3.
Everything is laid out for you in one easy-to-use book, including parent instructions, activities, and readers, all you need to do is follow the path.
The book contains 115 days of lessons and is designed to be used 5 days a week.
